The mathematical constant 2.71828.... The base of the natural log. The base number in the formula for continuously compounded interest, and many naturally occurring mathematical models. e is a transcendental number, in that it is not a solution to polynomial equation with integers for coefficients. This is the only number raised to the exponent x, that the integral with respect to x leaves the function unchanged. That is, the integral of e^x is once again e^x. Which is precisely the reason that the destiny of the stones lies with the half-breed! When the stones integrate their surroundings, e is unaffected.
The mathematical constant 3.14159.... Half the circumference of a circle with radius 1. The ratio of any circle's circumference to its diameter. Used extensively in geometry, and shows up in probability. Pi is a also transcendental number.
The base component of the complex numbers, and a required component of the complex plane. The square root of negative one. Provides zero roots to polynomial equations when there is no real solution. When as a solution to a polynomial equation, there is always a mirror image.

A half-elf and half-human raised in the small village of Venunder. He grows up in the presence of mainly humans, but forms a strong bond with the dwarf who raised his elven mother. e is good with numbers, and several other talents, but by far is not the best in Candora at any of them. The "Jack" of all trades and the master of none. The only one in Candora with no particular talent which is better than everyone else. He learned the use of an axe from his human father, who is a natural logger, and develops healing ability from his elven mother. A fair judge of character despite the fact that he is naïve of many things. The one in Candora whose destiny lies with the Stones of Archimedes. The one to remove most of the turmoil and strife from Candora and bring the land into a more peaceful state. The number 27 or 271, etc. shows up constantly in the writings.
LupiA dwarf with a fondness for mead. Lupi has the skills of a dwarven craftsman, and no one surpassed his special talent for making round shields. Aenor steals the steel tetrahedron from Lupi's brother, and he meets up with e on the way to Alesia. Lupi is a man of few words, and like most dwarves, he is a man's man. He is a loyal friend to e, but sometimes likes to play a practical joke or two. Strong and tough, although short in physical stature, he sees the world as an eye for eye and a tooth for a tooth. Words trip him up at times, but his true strength lies elsewhere.
AeliaA pure bred elven girl from Alesia who moved to Eastmund. She plays the lute and sings songs with the voice of an angel. She has a talent for disappearing in the complex plane when trouble arrives, but it is here where she can do the most damage for the greater good. She is a work of beauty with her own mind. She desires peace for Candora, but at other times, it isn't clear what motivates. As e struggles to understand her, she remains a mystery, and as girls do to most guys, Aelia remains complex - almost unreal.
EuclidA thin elderly bald headed man who first comes to e in his dreams- the irrational, following a near death experience for e. Euclid reveals e's destiny with the Stones of Archimedes, and acts as his mentor throughout his journey while sitting around a campfire. The campfire represents many things as it is symbolically the will to live, the flow of knowledge, and the spirit of all that is good in the world.
e, Lupi and AeliaThree friends that are destined to bring peace to Candora. They will unite the Stones of Archimedes and defeat the archdemon Astaroth.

The Stones of Archimedes in CandoraThe Steel Tetrahedron of FireLooks like steel, but does not act like steel. Enhances a metal working forge by making the fire burn hotter and purer, but remains cool to the touch. Offers fire resistance properties to its wielder. It was taken to the Mountains of Kabah by Archimedes youngest son Borus who became the founding ancestor of the dwarves.

CubeThe most common of the 5 regular platonic solids. Plato associated the solid with the classical element earth. The cube has the dual the octahedron.
|
The Black Opal CubeThe Black Opal Cube left with one of the sons of Alexandria, son of Archimedes and wound up in the city of Leptis Magna. The Black Opal Cube enhances strength and endurance, and thus Leptis Magna grew to be the strongest and largest city in Candora.
|
OctahedronThe dual of the cube of the 5 regular platonic solids. Plato associated the solid with the classical element air.
IcosahedronThe dual of the dodecahedron of the 5 regular platonic solids. Plato associated the solid with the classical element water.
DodecahedronThe dual of the icosahedron of the 5 regular platonic solids. Plato associated the solid with the God's arrangement of the heavens. Aristotle added that the heavens were possibly made of ether, and associated the stone with ether. Ether was also suggested as a medium for a light wave to travel, until it was proved that this could not be the case.
SphereA circle of perfect circles, and not a platonic solid The largest volume possible in the least amount of surface area.

The Emerald Octahedron Stone of AirOriginally brought to Alesia by Arbelos, son of Archimedes, the location of the Emerald Octahedron Stone of Air is unknown for a time. The stone protects the wielder with a force field of air pressure when the wielder is threatened with harm. It is thought to calm its wielder and possibly improve projectile accuracy.
The Pearl Icosahedron Stone of WaterOriginally brought to Alesia by Arbelos, son of Archimedes, the Pearl Icosahedron Stone of Water is brought to the city of Northwood until it is stolen away. The stone has healing properties of those in its near surroundings, and is able to purify tainted water.
The Etheral Diamond DodecahedronThe Etheral Diamond Dodecahedron is encased in fire and is on display in the Council's Chambers in Alesia. It was also originally brought to Alesia by Arbelos, son of Archimedes. The stone seems to radiate ether- the substance from which the magic of Candora is ignited from. The wielder of the stone is granted enhanced manipulation of ether, and thus enhanced magical capabilities.
The Crystal Sphere of TimeThe Crystal Sphere of Time is taken to Carthage by the other son of Alexandria, son of Archimedes. Little is known about this stone, but it is said to give its wielder the ability to see or manipulate time- slightly. The stone remains under the possession of King Ansgar of Carthage, but forces are marching.
